Hopefull, we can use these easy recommendations to help us prevemt these nasty flues that are so dangerous for those who have weakend systems.

Prevent Swine Flu - Good Advice

Dr. Vinay Goyal is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist) having clinical experience of over 20 years.. He has worked in institutions like Hinduja Hospital , Bombay Hospital , Saifee Hospital , Tata Memorial etc..

Presently, he is heading our Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W).

The following message given by him makes a lot of sense and is important for all to know

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (except to eat or bathe).

3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to #3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at using a Neti pot to clean nasal cavities, but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population..*

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

Share this with others, you never know who might pay attention to it - and STAY ALIVE because of it.

Take what you know today and use it to bless others....and be blessed yourself!!

2009 H1N1 Flu: Free Resources From CDC

Check out this link for the latest H1N1 and other flu resources. And National Healthcare Mystery!!

Hello everyone, I hope all of you are staying well. I have many who are suffering from colds, flu and even Swine Flu. A friend emailed me today that a friend's husband had passed away last night die to Swine Flu complications. We all need to take precautions, especially those who have weakened Immune systems. So do all that you can to stay away from those who have any symptoms and keep the hand sanitizer with you. Also, wash, wash, and wash your hands some more when in public places or around children.

Since Sunday, I have had a migraine that has been on and off, but mostly on. I have taken, what my Neurologist considers, the equivalent to Treximet and Meclizine for the nausea. I have not been sleeping well, which I believe to be a major trigger for my migraines. It seems no matter what I try I just can't get to and stay asleep. Stress is claiming the hot seat in this matter. I'm concerned over my financial situation, which will change, yet again at the first of the year, due to my insurance premiums. My coverage will not change, but, you guessed it...my premiums will change and my deductible will go up from $100 to $500. Which means I will not be able to go to Emory to see the specialist who I was supposed to be seeing today. Upon receiving a letter the other day telling me that my appointment was change to January 8th, because Dr. Weyand would not be in the office that day, I called to express my disappointment as I have had and waited for that appointment since mid June. I was told first, that she would be at a conference, then when I opposed being rescheduled with a different doctor, that she had actually moved. What is the real truth here, I wonder???? Anyways, I know that there will be plenty of tests that will need to be done, and I will not be able to afford it under my new insurance provisions. I try not to worry, but I am only human, and it just takes over me at times.

I'm certain that there are many here who are experiencing the same story, and I pray for a healthcare solution for all. Me, not being a professional on the subject, and just giving my very humble oppinion....well, I think if The People, employers and Insurance companies are opposed to national healthcare system, they would be more in tuned to give The People what they need, not continue to take it away bit by bit. Are you happy with your insurance situation? Please comment.

Well, I'm getting off of my soapbox and I'm gonna try to go to sleep tonight. I pray for each of you daily, anyone who is impacted by a chronic illness or pain, and bid you many Blessings straight from Almighty God.

Take care, and stay away from "sick".

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.hope4chronicillness.com/2009/10/migraines-and-national-healthcare.html' title='Migraines.... Just thought I would pass them on for those of us who don't want to take "one more drug", or those who like to have multiple uses for one product. I'm all about saving money, so this is something I wanted to share with you.

Be blessed, not stressed...think up, not down....give to, not out....and be with, not without.

I do hope these work....

Who knew?

*Did you know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache

pain almost immediately-without the unpleasant side effects caused by

traditional pain relievers?

*Did you know that Colgate Toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns?

*Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with

mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids

peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

*Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 tablespoon horseradish in 1 cup

of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a

massage oil for instant relief for aching muscles.

*Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1

tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

*Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets

in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms.

Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly-even

though the product was never advertised for this use.

*Honey remedy for skin blemishes... cover the blemish with a dab of honey

and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin

sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.

*Listerine therapy for toenail fungus: Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus

by soaking your toes in Listerine Mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic

leaves your toenails looking healthy again.

*Easy eyeglass protection... to prevent the screws in eyeglasses from

loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear Nail Polish to the

threads of the screws before tightening them.

*Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer... if menacing bees, wasps,

hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the

insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground instantly.

*Smart splinter remover: Just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the

splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to

the dried glue.

God Bless.

A Thought. Over the last few days I've had some septic tank problems which were a nuisance, but it is now fixed and we can use our toilets, washer, sink, and showers again-thankfully it was just a clogged filter and was a minimal cost. The odors being expelled throughout my home has aggravated my Asthma and I have been a bit stressed wondering if this was going to be a great expense.
You know, we take little things like this for granted each and every day, and until something goes wrong with them, we may not give thanks for them. Myself, I am going to try to be more aware and more thankful to my God for even seemingly little things that can become huge things when they aren't in sync. This rings true for our health as well. We don't think about the little things like feeling, hearing, smelling, breathing well, or even the little thought of things, such as producing insulin, having sufficient cartilage between our joints, and an immune system that functions properly.
Some of you may think of the parts of your body that don't work properly, but I bid you to think of those parts of your body that do work properly. Focus your attention and give thanks for those things.....and the fact that, even while having a tough life, you still have life. That in itself is amazing and deserves appreciation.

Oh, and I have started a new website, that will be an extension to this one, providing you with fun freebies, health freebies and information, and just some fun stuff that I hope will brighten your days.

My prayers go out to each and every one who deals with any chronic illness. So please know, that when you haven't got the strength to pray for yourself, someone is praying for you.

Enjoy your days, continue to pray, give thanks, visit my Freebie site (and share it with others) and know that you are a being that is a special order straight from God. Please forward to everyone

you can, and the news media so we can save as many babies and

children as possible. I like the beginning of Dr. Blaylock's first

sentence "The CDC assures us, for whatever that is worth..." I've

worked with the CDC and very familiar with their coverup. See

article below Dr. Blaylock's note. Also, if you've seen Sweet

Misery: A Poisoned World (cori@soundandfury.tv>) you

will notice that

I show the 146 page damning CDC Investigation of aspartame. The CDC

(Concealing Deadly Complaints) had a summary added that contradicted

the investigation saying the reactions were mild. Some of the

reported symptoms included: aggressive behavior, disorientation,

hyperactivity, extreme numbness, excitability, memory loss, loss of

depth perception, liver impairment, cardiac arrest, seizures,

suicidal tendencies, severe mood swings, and death. The very same

things we see today from aspartame, except there are many, many more

as discussed in Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic by H. J.

Roberts, M.D., http://www.sunsentpress.com/%3Ewww.sunsentpress.com,

the 1000 page medical text on this global plague. I was told by

CDC that the person who wrote the summary was now retired, that was

the excuse for the contradictory statement. Yet, they refuse to put

the investigation on their web site. Today they have this

note:

http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00000426.htm

Again the actual investigation is not listed. I would like to ask

them to explain to me what is a mild case of death! Here is the

actual investigation by the CDC they don't want you to

see:

http://www.mpwhi.com/damning_cdc_investigation_on_aspartame.htm

You can read the FDA's own report of 92 symptoms on http://www.mpwhi.com/

Also, when it comes to vaccines, remember that aspartame, an

addictive, excitoneurotoxic, carcinogenic, genetically engineered

drug that interacts with drugs and vaccines is also an adjuvant like

you find in vaccines.

I have mentioned before that Dr. Blaylock says adjuvants cause the

same things like MS, lupus, ALS and autism. Aspartame triggers these

big time. Interestingly, on a radio show last night a woman with

aspartame MS said she was fine off aspartame but occasionally might

accidently get some and would react. Of course, this happens because

aspartame is so poisonous it causes polychemical sensitivity

syndrome. She said in every case when she went for help the ER

doctor would say, "have you used aspartame products or taken the flu

shot". So the information is becoming well known. Here is the info

on aspartame and

MS: http://www.mpwhi.com/new_report_at_neurology_conference.htm

Autism is currently exploding.

Read about the Canadian Study which links H1N1 to seasonal flu

shots.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technology/science/study-prompts-provinces-to-rethink-flu-p%3E%20lan/article1303330/

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technology/science/study-prompts-provinces-to-rethink-flu-p%3E%20lan/article1303330/

More on the Canadian

Study:

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=15516

Why you should not vaccinate your children by Infectious Disease

expert: Dr. Kent Holtorf:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/10/06/Why-You-Should-NOT-Vaccinate-Your-Children-Against-the-Flu-This-Season.aspx

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/10/06/Why-You-Should-NOT-Vaccinate-Your-Children-Against-the-Flu-This-Season.aspx

It is particularly interesting that he says those with mitochondrial

dysfunction will be hit the hardest. The mitochondria is the

powerhouse of the cell and is damaged by aspartame, the reason it

interacts with drugs and vaccines. Aspartame is actually used in

vaccines like cholera and typhoid because it is an adjuvant.

Below this recap is the important news from Russell Blaylock,

M.D. This should be forwarded around the world. Let's see how many

we can save.

Regards,

Betty

<http://www.mpwhi.com/>http://www.mpwhi.com/, http://www.dorway.com/,

Aspartame Toxicity Center, www.holisticmed.com/aspartame

From Russell Blaylock, M.D.

Dear Betty,

The CDC assures us, for what ever that is worth, that squalene will

not be used.

Squalene has not gotten FDA approval for use in American vaccines. This does

not mean that these vaccines are safe. They can still cause a number of

neurological disorders, including seizures, neurodevelopmental disorders and

Gullian Barre syndrome. The NIH studies and vaccine company studies,

recently reported in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that 75% of

children under age 2 years will get no protection and 64% of children from

age 3 to 9 will get no protection from this vaccine. Idiot vaccine

"authorities" are recommending 5 vaccines for babies and small children. It

is also critical to remember that these babies and children will be getting

their usual 36 childhood vaccines in addition to these new vaccines. This

really puts them at a high risk. Therefore, vaccinating young children risk

a very high incidence of neurodevelopmental and autoimmune disorders without

significant benefit from the vaccine. So, one must ask, why are they pushing

this vaccine on small children and babies? The pregnant women are also at

great risk for autism and schizophrenia in their babies. A new WebMD article

states ( Dr. Michael Bronze, Univ Oklahoma Medical Center) states that only

1 in 300,000 pregnant women are at any risk of requiring hospitalization and

most of the hospitalized will be there for IV hydration only and not be

seriously ill. The article also admits that animal studies using pregnant

animals confirm that vaccination during pregnancy harms the offspring and

further that no human studies have been done on pregnant women and

vaccination. We do have experience with the Gardasil vaccine used during

pregnancy--it caused a number of miscarriages and malformations of the

babies. This was known before Gardasil was recommended for pregnant women.

So we do have studies on vaccinating pregnant women, they just have chosen

to ignore them. Tens of thousands of babies will be harmed.

While the swine flu vaccine is supposed to be mercury free the seasonal flu

(they get two shots) has a full dose of mercury. Mercury is an immune

suppressant, which increase these babies and children's risk of getting the

flu and having great difficulty clearing it--that is, they will be much

sicker.

It is also instructional to note that according to the CDC there have been

fewer deaths and hospitalizations with this flu than the previous 2

seasons. This is also true for all age groups. Fewer children (2% of total)

die from this flu than any other age group. The key is nutrition--a

multivitamin and vitamin D3.

Russell

(Dr. Russell Blaylock, neurosurgeon is the author of Excitotoxins:

The Taste That Kills and other books and video's, and the Blaylock

Wellness

Report:

http://www.russellblaylockmd.com/ and http://www.blaylockwellnesscenter.com/

One added note - Squalene was in the Anthrax vaccine given to the

troops in the Persian Gulf which Dr. Blaylock says caused a 200

increase in ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). It was not FDA

approved. Standing FDA Commissioner Michael Friedman just told them

to use it anyway. They were also consuming diet pop broken down to a

witches brew of poisons in the 120 degree Arabian sun. Aspartame

triggers ALS as well. So it was a double whammy. Aspartame also

causes a burning tongue. It was of interest when 60 Minutes did the

expose on Gulf War Illness it was mentioned they didn't understand

why so many had a burning tongue.

About the Measles Vaccine below: I did research with CDC in the

late 1960's when I was working with a hematologist. They told me

they wanted to find the cure for leukemia and I was sending them all

the cases. One day they called and asked me if I would help them

with some research on how people get leukemia. Research showed you

get it from the Epstein Barr Virus. People who have Mono do not get

leukemia but if you're around people with the Epstein Barr virus,

mono, you can get it. That's why so many teachers and nurses aids

get leukemia, they are around mono victims. The CDC told me, "yes

we know". I said "Good, then you will warn the public!" I was told,

"No, it would cause mass hysteria". I said, "But mass hysteria is

much better than death". All they would have had to do is tell mono

patients to stay at home until they got well. How many lives would

have been saved?

Today, 40 years later they are making the connection because I

checked in google when Don Harkins died. He got acute myeloid

leukemia and died in two weeks, when he returned from Montana.

Read on, this is sickening! Of course, today we also know that

aspartame causes leukemia and lymphoma, and is a multipotential

carcinogen as proven by Dr. Soffritti in the Ramazzini Studies.

All my best,

Betty

http://www.mpwhi.com/, http://www.dorway.com/, http://www.wnho.net/

Aspartame Toxicity Center,

From: hera@nemesis

Subject: Measles vaccine is good for you

Date: Fri, 02 Oct 2009 00:36:20 -0700

Isolating "measles virus" for a vaccine

" 'sacrifice' a marmoset monkey, take some of its cells, then make

these cancerous, perhaps by exposing them to radiation, and then give

them, on top of this, Epstein-Barr disease! Such extremely sick

cells, the CDC informs us, are '10,000 times' more sensitive to the

measles virus than are normal human cells...."

http://www.whale.to/vaccine/measles_virus.html

How 'Measles Virus' is isolated for a Vaccine.

by <http://www.whale.to/vaccine/roberts_h.html>Janine Roberts

Monday, 18 August 2008 01:37

extract from her book

<http://www.whale.to/a/roberts_b.html>Fear of the Invisible

In an online paper entitled 'Isolation and Identification of Measles

Virus in Cell Culture,' the CDC, the central Health Research

authority of the USA, lays out how isolation of this virus should be

done so it can be used, say for a vaccine. It instructs, first obtain

from the patient a small sample of urine or fluid from the nose or mouth.

Next 'sacrifice' a marmoset monkey, take some of its cells, then make

these cancerous, perhaps by exposing them to radiation, and then give

them, on top of this, Epstein-Barr disease! Such extremely sick

cells, the CDC informs us, are '10,000 times' more sensitive to the

measles virus than are normal human cells.

Now add to these cells a toxin called trypsin. The CDC tells us to

expect some cells to fall off the sides of the vessel as if they have

been poisoned. They have been. Now add nutrients and glucose and

leave for two or three days so the cells can somewhat recover.

Now add to the cells the sample gathered from the patient. After an

hour, inspect the cells in the culture with a microscope to see if

any of the cells are becoming distorted, or are floating free as they

did when trypsin was added. If they are, the CDC says this is proof

that measles virus is present and making the cells ill.

This statement made me sit back and think. Why should this illness

now be caused by a virus? They had poisoned the cells, made them

cancerous..... and now the CDC was saying the cells must be ill

because they had measles. Where was the logic in this?

The next stage involves the addition of two antibiotics, Penicillin

and Streptomycin, to the culture and leaving it alone for a day.

Again the cells are inspected - and if small holes now appear between

cells, it is now presumed that measles virus has caused these. If no

sign of such damage, this process is repeated. If after this there

are still no signs of damage, then the culture is discarded. However,

if 50% or more of the cells are now seriously ill and distorted, the

culture is set aside and kept in the fridge as 'isolated measles

virus stock suitable for vaccines!' All this without actually

detecting the virus itself!

This is the whole process as recommended by the CDC. There is no

mention of the need to have a control culture, no mention of any need

to isolate the measles virus or even to see it with an electron

microscope. The cells are poisoned - and an unseen measles virus is

blamed - even thou' the disease the cells have is totally unlike

measles. Where is the logic in this?

What they call measles virus is in effect the fluid in this poisoned

cell culture.

Source document - CDC. Isolation and Identification of Measles Virus

in Culture, Revised November 29, 2001.

Janine Roberts

author of 'Fear of the Invisible'

How scared should you be of Viruses and Vaccines...

Another Pulmonary Function Test...and Hope!!

I am so sorry it has taken me a while to post. The Chicago trip really did a number on me and I got some not so great news from SSDI. I have to take another PFT. It is scheduled for tomorrow and I had such a hard time taking the first one that I am not looking forward to this one. I'm not sure why they are having me repeat it....I'm thinking it's because there was part one of the test that I just couldn't do. It was the part where they cut off your air completely and expect you to keep struggling for air...not sure the purpose of this, I guess just to see how gracefully you would suffocate!! I'm kidding, of course. I know there has to be a reason for it. I will let you know how it turns out.

My visit with son was excellent!! He is now waiting to start training for his job as a Gunner's Mate. He should stay in Great Lakes for another eight months at least. So, I can rest easy knowing that he is safe. After that, he has told me that it is likely that he will go to Afghanistan. That news I could have waited to hear. But, I guess I have the next eight months to prepare my mind and be ready when it gets here.

Before my trip, I got a Solu-Medrol shot, which is a long acting steroid...it definitely helped my breathing, but for some reason, I just don't tolerate steroids well. My heart is still pounding and contrary to others' experience, it actually caused more burning in my face, chest, hands and feet. He also prescribed 5 mgs. of prednisone per day, but after the first couple of doses I was completely miserable, and so were those around me...it is like my insides are going to pop out and I am crabby and feel rage. I don't like that at all. Not to mention the side effects mentioned above. The end of this month is my appointment with the expert Rheumatologist, and I am holding out hope and praying that she will have some alternative treatment for me.

Just to let all of you know, I have a new blog that focuses on freebies and fun stuff, so I hope you will all check it out. I have been blessed with so many of these little freebies; I decided to share them with others. Just go to http://hot-top-pics.blogspot.com/ and give it a try.

My prayer in doing both of these sites is that I can bless others with what God has given me. Even through my roughest hours I praise Him. No one wants to ever be sick or hurt or go through tough times, but it is part of being human. And, no matter what, God does make those times easier to accept and deal with. He lets us know we are not alone, even if we are by ourselves. He gives us peace and comforts our hearts. He gives us hope and keeps us going even when we don't feel like it. Without God, I know that my life, especially the last three years dealing with this sickness, would have felt completely hopeless. I am so thankful to know Him, and my prayer is that all who don't know Him, will open their hearts and minds and take a leap of faith and get to know Him, just to see how He will change everything. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. Knowing God may not take your circumstances and make them all wonderful, but it will make them easier to go through.

I bid you a wonderful day and that you will look for some small blessings that you can count.....some that seemed to have been hiding somewhere. They are there; it's just that sometimes you have to uncover them so that they will shine through.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am in Chicago to see my son graduate from The Navy. I have still been having a time getting my breathing under control, it is a never ending roller coaster ride it seems.

One day I will just take my regular meds without much problem, and the next day my nebulizer is a part of my anatomy!!

I have been having some joint pain for quite some time now, but nothing that has bothered me too badly. But, last week I woke up and stood on the floor to a new and different pain in the side of my left foot. Upon looking and feeling it, there was a knot there, close to my heel and it felt like a stone bruise. Well, today woke up to the same feeling on the side of my left middle finger. I also have a knot that is protruding there...almost looks like Rheumatoid Arthritis. The joints in my fingers have seemed to hurt upon waking a lot, but again it seems to come and go. I just thought that maybe I was fighting someone in my dreams (and won) and made them sore. But, now this is something I'm going to have to address with my doctor. But, it will have to wait until October 22nd. In a way, I'm looking forward to my visit to see Dr. Weyand, a Rheumatologist at Emory University Hospital, who specializes in Rare Diseases, but then again I don't want to feel like I've wasted my time and money on yet another doctor. She seems to be my last resort and I hope that I will walk in and all the unanswered questions will be answered and that I will get the proper treatment for my Churg Strauss Syndrome and will start feeling better again.

Even though my faith in doctors has diminished, I still believe there is hope for me yet. After all, if we don't have hope and faith.....we have nothing, really.

I can say that my faith in God is stronger than ever, and I give Him credit for getting me through each day, the good days, and even for my bad days. Sometimes, I believe our bad days, regardless of the cause, brings us closer to God because we feel we need Him more. And, because God is no dummy, I think He allows us those days just so He will get to be closer to us. It is a win win situation!! We gain comfort and strength and He gains His child's attention. How much more awesome can a bad day get than that?

I am getting the last of my travel plans together to go to Illinois to see my son graduate from The Navy. My sister and my son's girlfriend are going, too, and we have decided to rent a car--of course my sister will do the driving. It's going to be at least a 13 hour trip, and I am praying that I won't have any major problems along the way. We will be leaving on the 23rd and coming back on the 28th. I have a portable nebulizer that is awesome, but I pray that my breathing straightens out before then. Seeing my son is going to wonderful, I've missed him so much!!

Well, I hope you all enjoy your day and that good health come your way. Remember, faith, hope and you can also add love to that, because that is the most important thing we have. To love God, ourselves and others will bring us farther in our healing than anything else.

God Bless you all!! And, let God love on you for a while today....be His baby to rock and care for. That is what He wants to do....so let him.

Just A Quick Savings Reminder!

The past week has been a foggy battle with breathing problems. I'm sure those of you with Auto Immune Diseases or other Chronic illnesses can relate. But, I didn't want to let too much time get by without posting something of use--at least my hope is that it will useful to everyone.
I was finally able to get on my computer to check my email today and found that Restaurant.com is having a 90% off sale for 99 hours, it began yesterday. That means that a $25 gift certificate is only $1!! Can you say WOW?? This is a promotion for the "never again to see" date of 09/09/09, and will end on September 13, 2009 at 3:01AM PST. The code is NINETY. So, stock up on these gift certificates while you have the chance!! I bought four for $4, now who can beat that?

Well, it is late and my eyes and body are telling me that they need rest. Go get your beauty sleep even though you don't need it...the beauty part anyways--you are beautiful just the way you are!! And, it is not only me that can back this up. It is written that we are each made in God's image...So, I think that speaks volumes!! We are all precious works of art that did not happen by chance. We were planned and were so intricately made that we shine before our creator, God Almighty. To me that is one awesome mirror to look into!! Embrace that, and have a wonderful and blessed night!!

COPD ????

Image via Wikipedia

Okay, gonna try to make this a little short, as I am very tired, though I should have posted sooner. So...I had my Pulmonary Function Test done Thursday instead of Tuesday....I couldn't perform the test Tuesday because my breathing just wasn't good enough to even do it. I think this would be a very taxing test even if you're breathing is great. You do several different types of breathing exercises into a tube-like thing the size of maybe a half dollar that is hooked to a comuter of some sort---my mouth is small and it was very uncomfortable to try to blow hard fast breaths into this huge straw!! It is also a very lengthy test which requires many breaks to rest. If you are claustrophobic, there is a portion of the test that is done inside a very small glass enclosure, that you may find it difficult to tolerate. During each breathing exercise/test, you are wearing pretty tight clips over your nose so that you are only able to breathe through your mouth-this is kind of a pet peeve of mine, because I don't like anything or ANYONE touching my nose, as it is very sensitive and it causes sneezing or the good ole dribbles. My technician was extremely nice and very patient with me, talking with me and explaining the whole process as we went. He was so genuinely interested in my condition and learning about Churg Strauss Syndrome, as he had never heard of it.....imagine that!!! I felt a great sense of comfort during this very uncomfortable test thanks to him. He will be on my "Tina's Hall of Fame for Doctor's Bedside Manners List"---there are very few who have made it on this most prestigious and deserving list, and he will be remembered with high honors with me and in in heaven, I am most sure. Another very trying or actually scary part of this test was when you are breathing short fast breaths in and out over and over for about 30 seconds, then suddenly the opening is blocked and you are to continue trying to breath in and out--like you are in the water with a snorkel and someone puts their hand over it and you are struggling to breath....I thought my death was certain during this part of the test, because I didn't think he would ever release it so I could actually get air!!! This was the most difficult part for me, and thankfully I only had to do it twice. The whole process probably took an hour, or it seemed that long anyways.
Now for the results....I got the not so welcome news that I now have "severe lung disease", which is what my doctor said. I'm still not certain what exactly that means....and still trying to grasp having "it" at age 38. I did my Doctor what that meant, and did I have COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). With an uncertain look he said that the test shows that I do have COPD. He said that he may send me to an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat) Specialist to see where the obstruction is????? I left with increased asthma medication and very a very uninformed feeling, which is becoming all too familiar since I first became ill.

On another note, I am trying to plan my trip to Illinois on September 25Th to see my son graduate from The Navy's Basic Training, but do not feel focused enough this week to accompoish this task. I have never made any kind of travel arrangements, short of Hotel reservations, so it is all pretty overwhelming to me. But, I have some friends who are helping me through it, and also providing much needed encouragement that I need right now. I also welcome any advice that you have as well, so send me your travel tips or experiences with PFT's, please.

No matter what my condition or circumstances are, I still am fully secure in my faith, and I know that God has some wonderful things in store for my life. I may sulk a little, but I try my best to push those uncertain feelings aside and lean on what I know IS certain--God, Jesus' return and Salvation. That alone gets me through my days. If you struggle with your faith, I believe that that is the worst infection you could ever have. So, if that is you, please make it a priority to meet with the Ultimate Healer, and the rest will be so much easier to get through.

I wish everyone a great week, much healing and many blessings!!

Trying to learn about Pulmonary Funtion Tests...

Good afternoon all!! I hope everyone is having a lovely day, and that struggles are at a low. At last visit, my O2 level was at 92%. I don't really know about how the test is done, other than breathing into a tube attached to a machine....but I will fill you in on all the details after it is complete. I am hoping they will be able to do the test at my appointment tomorrow, but they may have to schedule it for another day. This test is also being ordered for Social Security disability--they have had my application since January, and still have not made a decision.....

So today, my question is to see if anyone else has had this done and would like to tell of their experience. I am looking on the Internet but, someone else's story would be a much better reference.
Image by Daniel Y. Go via Flickr

Today's post is not going to be very long, as I am tired and don't feel up to writing much. But, I am in prayer every day--as I am thankful for every experience I have, good and bad. If not for our experiences, we would not have the chance to learn and grow. So, take the time to be thankful for experience....it helps us, then we can choose to use it to help others.
God Bless!!

Churg Strauss Still Going Strong Today!!

Hope everyone had a glorious day! Mine started with every two hour nebulizer treatments and being very sluggish physically. I'm assuming the lack of oxygen plays a part in that. Often times my asthma is worse during night and in the morning, despite the fact that my body should be in a more relaxed state. You would think that we would require less "air" while sleeping, I mean how taxing can it be to just sleep? Maybe I'm having dreams that are exciting-too bad I don't remember them-especially if they are good! Since being on the array of medicines, I hardly dream....or at least I don't recall them if I do.
I had few things I had to do today, and one of those things was to go grocery
Image via Wikipedia
shopping. Recently, I mentioned that I've started using a coupon system that saves me a lot of money. Well my groceries came to $172.93, after my coupons combined with the store's weekly sale, I paid $82.41!! I will say that I usually save close to 75% off my bill (Publix seems to be the better money saver store), however, I went to Kroger today, so my savings weren't as great. But, the way I see it, anything over a 50% savings is HOT,HOT, HOT!! So, people get to that couponing, and free up some of that much needed money!
On the downside of my shopping was my aching feet due to my neuropathy, and
Image by Migraine Chick via Flickr
halfway through a sudden migraine!! If any of suffer from migraine like I do, you will try just about anything to get rid of them. Tonight, I took 100mg of Sumatriptran, the generic for Imitrex and 500mg of prescription Naproxen, which my Doc says is the equivalent of the new Treximet. And, then when I got no relief after 45 minutes, I put a heating pad to the bottom of my feet-a first, and like magic-it worked!! So, this going to be my next migraine routine-drugs and heat to the feet!!

On another note, going back to money saving-I was blessed again today by a fellow Freecycler with Aloe Vera plant that is over 60 years old!! It is huge and beautiful and will hopefully help with rashes I get on my forearms!!

Well, my rambling has gone on long enough, I think I'm gonna take advantage of the drowsy side effect of the meds I took for the migraine, and get some sleep. I do hope that you all will take a minute and read something wonderful and uplifting, maybe a chapter or even just a verse or two in Psalms or Proverbs, or any other good reading, and get ourselves a good night's sleep, too!! It has been a while since writing, I have to say, I've had a rough time with Churg Strauss Syndrome for the past month or more. Actually, the vertigo was just the beginning and it has run rampant through my respiratory system and still going strong. My nebulizer and trashcan have been my closest buds lately--icky. BUT, I'm not going to go all into that today, I want to lift your spirits, and mine, as well.

So, I'm going to talk about something that I have found to be a true money saver and a blessing as well. I have joined a yahoo group for my county that is available all over th e US. You may have even heard of it, and may use the service, too. It is called Freecycle. All you
do is type your county and/or a nearby county and the word "Freecycle" into your search bar and it should have your county's group in the first few results. This group allows you to list things that are no longer used, needed or wanted by you to give to someone else who has a need or is looking for them. You can also list things that you are in need or search of and someone who has that item can respond to you if they happen to have what you are looking for. I have been blessed several times through this group and have actually gotten to meet some wonderful people at the same time-like a lady who goes to my church that I had never met before-can you say "instant friend"? And, another lady who has offered to help me with my limited blogging page skills-another blessing!! And, what a great way to turn your "junk" into someone else's "treasure." I say that in humor, because I have not encountered "junk" at all. Recently, I was in real need for a sewing machine. As many of you know, we have to cut cost wherever we can sometimes, especially if you are on disability and have a fixed income. Me being only 5' tall, m ost pants may fit perfect in the waste, but are a foot too long!! Go ahead and laugh...it's okay, really-it's a sight to see!! But, paying someone for something that I can do myself AND save money, is just not in m
y budget at this particular time, nor could I afford to go and buy a new sewing machine. God was truly looking out for me, and there was a listing that came up for a sewing machine on FREECYCLE shortly after I had decided that I really needed one. I was so thankful when the person contacted me and said I was the first one to respond!!! Needless to say, I had it picked up right away, and it was just like new!! I am now able to sew and mend and also do some crafts with my "new" sewing machine. It is a very nice one that has plenty of stitch settings and extras that were never even opened!! What a money saver it will be for years to come and a truly needed blessing!!
If you are not already using Freecycle, I suggest you get on the ball and take advantage of the blessings and also be a blessing to others. If you are using this service, you already know how rewarding it is. This is a great way for us to give back, no matter how small. There is always someone who can use that pair of pants or shoes you cannot or do not wear anymore. Or those toys that your child has grown out of. Or that set of coffee cups that don't match....the list is endless. Just go be a blessing to someone, and you will be blessed in returned in more ways than you can imagine.

Oh, and on a side note, my son has been gone for two weeks now, and I have received one letter so far. He says that he is doing well and that basic training is "rough, fun, terrifying, and exciting, all at the same time." He is scheduled to graduate on Friday September 25th, and wants me to come a couple of days early. I think I will go up on Thursday and hopefully will be able to afford staying through Sunday, but I will have to see how things go. So please keep us in your prayers.

I hope you will all check out Freecycle and take advantage of this awesome group, and that you are all well and keeping your faith strong, no matter what your body happens to be doing!! Chronic pain can take away many things, but the one thing it can't take away is your faith, unless you let it!! So DON'T EVER LET IT!!!!

Perservere in everything you set your mind to, and God Bless you all!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.hope4chronicillness.com/2009/08/css-rears-its-ugly-head-but-we-are.html' title='CSS Rears its Ugly Head!! I was juggling with trying to spend as much time with my son, who left for The United States Navy, as possible, clean house as good as I could and have a CSS flare, all simultaneously. Thankfully, two friends from church came to help me with my son's "Bon Voyage" party. Otherwise, I would not have made it through it, because for the entire week before, my CSS had started to really act up. Not wanting to be too medicated to get things done, I slacked on taking my pain medications that I needed badly. My feet, legs and hands had constant pain and burning. I had called my pulomonary/prima
Image via Wikipedia
ry doctor a few weeks back to tell him about the vertigo problem I was having and he thought I must be getting an infection and called in an antibiotic. Doxycycline......bad move.....contains sulfites, which I ask the pharmacist if they were in any way related to sulfur type medications, which I am allergic to....he said "no"--he was absolutely right, but, I happen to be allergic to Doxycycline, too!! This opened the door to the beginning of a horrible asthma attack within 30 minutes of taking the first one. Of course, I decided quickly that there would not be a second one. And, after about four days I was still having terrible breathing problems. So, I went in to see the doctor, and left with Avelox, another anti-biotic, which I have taken before, and Clarinex D. I waited until after the party to start the new meds in fear of a repeat reaction--you just never know when your body will decide that it will not tolerate something. I had been on the Avelox eight days, up until last night, and feeling that I just kept getting worse and worse, I decided not to take it. Well, surprise to me.....I have felt better today. I have only used my nebulizer a few times, versus the 5-6 times per 24 hours I have been for the last week. Now, I am wondering if I may have developed an allergy to the Avelox, which has worked wonders for me in the past. If so, this would be a real let down and somewhat of a fear, because I'm running out of reliable options for when I do need an antibiotic.

Okay, enough of the sick stuff....gonna give you a tip, which you may already be aware of, but given my experience, I'm really taking it more seriously. Get a note card. On one side of the note card write all of your current medications down--even vitamins, supplements, or herbal. On the other side of the card write the medications, and foods (esp. eggs, which are in many vaccines or IV meds), that you are allergic to. If you have enough room, jot the reaction you had to the side of each one. Now, KEEP THIS WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES!!! Make sure a family member knows where it is--purse, wallet, etc. This will not only help when a doctor is prescribing you a new medication, but if a provider asks you what meds you are taking, all you have to do is hand them the list.

<IMG style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; DISPLAY: block; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; WIDTH: 227px; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none; HEIGHT: 173px" height=192 alt="After seven years in the Navy, J.D. He is a wonderful young man, and I will miss him terribly, but look forward to see what God has in store for his future. It has been over two weeks now, trying to ward off moderate to severe Vertigo for me. I'm finally picking up an Antibiotic tonight, against my wishes--my Pulmonary Doc thinks it may be due to an upper respiratory infection, as is very common with Churg Struss Syndrome.
Image via Wikipedia

Also, I'm getting my youngest son ready to be off to The Navy on August 4th, and the next few weeks I may be a little off on writing, too. I'm very proud of him, but at the same time, you know a mother will worry about her child. He has just turned eighteen, and already going to be serving our country....I still see him as not quite an adult yet--though he will definitely argue that. But, I'm sure all of you parents know exactly what I mean. I know that he will grow to be man very quickly as he embarks on this journey, but I will always miss my baby.
Soon, I am going to discuss Neuropathy, because it is a part of my daily life and many others I'm are very familiar with it as well. But, as most often not the case, I do not have Diabetes. I will go over some symptoms, diagnostic tests and treatment options, which will include medications and actual "electronic" devices-yippee!!

But, today I want to give you a big money saving opportunity that I have found very useful, especially if you like to dine out. There is a special Internet site that sells LEGITIMATE gift certificates ($25 to $50 values), in just about every city, for sometimes as low as $2. I and several of my friends and family have used them on many occasions. And, they make wonderful low cost gifts. Just leave me an email and I will send you the link this amazingly awesome site.

To all be blessed, and please be in prayer, not just for our country, but for our world--everyone on this earth needs God's blessing---so pray, and I hope to write again soon.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.hope4chronicillness.com/2009/07/world-is-still-spinning-inside-my-head.html' title='The World Is Still Spinning Inside My Head!! As many of you with Chronic Illnesses or Chronic Pain know, insomnia (inability to sleep) is someitmes an unwelcomed guest who wears out its welcome!! It's very hard to get on a "schedule" if your body, or your medications won't let you. For me, I take so many Asthma medications, that they tend to keep me from being able to sleep. So, I have to take a medication, Ambien (Generic is Zolpidem), to help me go to sleep easier, but sometimes even that doesn't work. They say--the "professionals"....and I know you've heard it, too, that if you can't sleep, you should get up and read or do something. Well, they don't know me too well...I'm a night owl by nature, and I would just stay up all night long reading or watching TV or whatever, so, that's not very good advice for me. My way is that I just lay there saying to myself, "I will fall asleep any minute now, but if I get up--I won't", but then still don't fall asleep. Some nights it is anywhere between 3 and 5 o'clock, or later, before my body finaly finds sleep...and that usually makes for a rough day.
Today, the rough part has been a touch of Vertigo any time I stand up or turn my head. If you have ever had it, you know that is unpleasant, at best, and horrifying, at worst. I have had it from one extreme to the other, and recommend neither!! I have been having quite a bit of sinus problems lately, which Churg Strauss Syndrome is well known for, and believe the Vertigo to be associated with that. If you have never suffered from it, you can read the Wikipedia definition by clicking on the word Vertigo in this post. The medication commonly prescibed for Vertigo is called Antivert (Generic is Meclizine), and seems to take the edge off, but it does not, by any means, eliminate it fully. The only side effect for me has been a little drowsiness, but not enough to put me to sleep. It does keep me from vomiting, and that is ALWAYS a plus in my book!! So, I give this drug a two thumbs up. Why only two? Because, that all I have!!
I do know that others suffer from Vertigo daily, and I am going to say a prayer for you as soon as I finish this post. Actually, I will pray for anyone who suffers from Vertigo, that they be freed from it's horrible effects and the loss of control one has over their own body. It can be a completely debilitating medical problem, and my heart goes out to those who have experienced it.
May God truly Bless each and every one who suffers from any illness-you will all be prayed for tonight.

Money Saving Monday

Image via Wikipedia

It has been several days since I have posted, and a lot has happened in those days. Several were spent lying on the sofa with the comings and goings of the usual Churg Strauss issues; , chronic pain, migraines (only slight though), sinus problems and asthma trouble. My asthma is always there but, at times it seems to "flare" up, as do all the other complications of CSS. Sometimes, like last week, I pushed myself a little harder over the weekend, then rested the first part of the week, and then tried to push myself again at the end of the week. Then, of course, came the Fourth of July.....well, mine was spent without fireworks, but was a great one just the same. Sometimes, a time of reflection on a holiday is just as good, or better than. going out and doing an all out celebration. I celebrated, more so by giving thanks to God for all of the "freedom" He has given me....and prayed for those who are and have served in our Armed Forces, for all who have lost their lives protecting others, and for the ones who have been left behind who loved them. I am so blessed to be who am and where I am, and I thank God for making me who I am and how I am, because my blessings far out way my stresses.

Anyways, let's get to the money saving!! Another great way I have learned to save a tremendous amount of money, and be able to try things that I normally wouldn't, is by strategic couponing. No kidding, I have averaged it out, and I am saving roughly 75% off of my grocery bill, and I come home with things that are awesome. I get things for free sometimes, and many times I get things for less than .30 cents!! How many times have you A-! Steak Sauce for .10 cents? I did, 2 times in the past month. I get cereal for less than a dollar many times, and once I got for boxes for .19 cents a piece. I have only been doing this since March, and there is a science to it, but you never actually clip a coupon until you are ready to use it. I have a system I go by and will be happy to send it to anyone interested in learning it. It is easy, a little time consuming, but if you need to save big money, what better way to spend a little time.
This is my favorite printable coupon site:
Save money on your favorite brands at Coupons.com. Tonight, I will share another way that I cut my monthly expenses by another simple action: First, take a look over your Home Owner's Insurance Policy. I did, then I called the insurance company my Credit Union partners with, which had previously saved me $600 per year on my auto insurance. By calling this time I got the exact same coverage amounts that I had and am now saving $20 shy of HALF of what my policy was with the company I had used since 2002!! So, you say, "what if I don't have a credit union"? There are some credit unions that have an "open door" policy, meaning you don't have to work for a particular company to become a member, and by calling or asking around you may be lead to one. Or, maybe your current bank has a referral system that includes insurance companies. If neither of these are the case, you are still not out of options. Start by calling different insurance companies yourself (it helps if you have your current policy handy), and check rates on both your home and auto coverages, as some offer multi-policy discounts, as well.
I'm so excited to be sharing the things I've learned that have helped me save money, that I wish I could just keep typing each one without stopping.....but, my hands, not my memory will allow that!! Plus, by sharing something each week, you will have plenty of time to get revved up for the next savings tip. And, know that if I find something that just can't wait--I will post it lickety split, because I know that in today's time, we can all use some extra moolah!!
Saving money, saves worry, which in turn, saves life!! So, go...SAVE!! Be blessed and be a blessing!! Goodnight!!

Michael Jackson via last.fm

I want to take this time to say how saddened over the deaths of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett (both today), and Ed McMahon on Tuesday. It can be a physical pain, from an illness, disorder or disease, and there is also array of emotional or mental reasons that cause Chronic Pain. No matter what type of Chronic Pain one has, each can be just as debilitating and cause equal frustration for all that it touches: the one who has the pain itself, and those who care for and about them.

Every person is in need of comforting at different points in their lives, unfortunately some of us have more points than others. Neurontin is used primarily for nerve pain, but has other uses as well. I started out at 100mg. 3 times per day and now take 300mg. 3 times per day. Though, some do not, I have had quite a bit of relief from my Neuropathy pain being on Neurontin. I have had some minor side effects when increasing the dosage, but as long as the increase is gradual I hardly notice. Though some people may have really bad side effects, I have not.... to my knowledge, that is. Some patience have reported experiencing grogginess, memory problems, weight gain, dizziness, and mood disturbances, just to name a few.
Every medicine that we try, not matter what condition that medication treats, is really just that...a trial. Some will reap a benefit, while others will get nothing, and then again, others will have adverse effects. We do not ever know which outcome we will have, unless we have a trial run. Believe me, if you have unwanted or extreme side effects, your trial will not be up for renewal, but for immediate cancellation!!
And, please remember, Doctors are human, too, and with dealing with each patient's situation, whether it be Chronic Pain, Rare Disorders or any ailment, they use the knowledge they have of the best course of treatment for each. Just like us, they don't know the outcome for each individual case, because everyone is made differently. When conventional medications that are suppose to work, don't,
they may try others in order to bring satisfactory results. So, be "patient", and don't always jump to blame a Doctor or a Medication for it not working as it is "supposed" to. No one has a crystal ball---not that they work, anyways---and Doctors get as frustrated as their patients do when things don't turn out as planned. But, that is life, and life changes every day.
No matter what condition you have, don't give up, keep seeking, keep praying, and above all, keep being thankful for your blessings....yes, they are there....just look and you will find them!!

My First Experience with a Rheumatologist...

After I spent a few of my afternoons with my regular Neurologist, I was referred to a Rheumatologist. She looked over the records that I brought regarding testing that had been done up until that point. Her focus was on doing more testing, a ton of blood work (I thought I would be bloodless when they took the 11 vials!!), to rule out certain diseases that she was familiar with that caused Chronic Pain. I find that if a doctor is not well knowledgeable about a particular disorder or disease, they may dismiss it completely, even if another doctor may have suggested it be a concern. I've been told "oh, you don't WANT that!!" Well, it is my understanding that no one "wants" any illness, but if they have it, wouldn't it be wise to actually treat it?? But, that's just me. I have several Chronic issues...including Chronic Pain....I want the best and most effective treatment available.
Anyways, the tests that the Rheumatologist ordered all came back normal (most had to do with some form of Arthritis), except for my Vitamin D level. She put me on 50,000 units of Vitamin D once per week. They are now finding that low Vitamin D levels may play a role in certain health issues. Normal Vitamin D levels are above 40ng/ml; Mine was at 14ng/ml--Ver
Image via Wikipedia
y low. My level is now at 32ng/ml, so it is going up, but I have noticed no change in any of my symptoms. But, I would recommend that anyone who has any unexplained pain have their Vitamin D and Vitamin B-12 tested, as these can be important indicators, and resolving any deficiencies may help alleviate problems for some.
About a month after I saw the Rheumatologist, I received a letter in the mail. saying that she is not running a regular any longer---no reason why....just "Find another Doctor so we can send them your records." I was somewhat stunned--as it said "Effective immediately...". So, now I am scheduled to get an appointment to see another Rheumy....though I have not heard back from the receptionist. Guess, I better call, now that it has crossed my mind again. I will put it in my "brain"---my PDA, I could not survive without it...OK, I could, but it would be disastrous!! Another recommendation---get a PDA with a good calendar with alarms...I have to set an alarm even if I want to watch a TV show or else I will forget!!
So, anyone who has not gotten their Vitamin and Mineral levels checked.....suggest having it done, or better yet, request it!!
I wish everyone peaceful, and restful sleep tonight, and pleasant dreams!!
Look outside before bed....this is the first New Moon of the year!! Nice!!
Goodnight!!

Helpful Tips for Busy Days and Getting a Restful Night's Sleep.

I hope everyone had a great day today. I was busy for far too long and am now out of commission for the most part. Surely, many of the ladies can relate...and probably many of the gentlemen as well. Holidays are often tough on those who have any disorder or disease that causes Chronic Pain. We do too much, sometimes don't have the help that we need, and often suffer the consequences for a few days, as our system is not only tired from the extra strain, but additional or pain other our "usuals" creep up on us to give us a double whammy. The best way to deal with holiday stresses is to try inlist the help of others when possible---yes, even for us who are stubborn headed!! And, when the day is done, relax with a nice soak in the bath with maybe some lavender scented epsom salts to help alleviate or at least cut down on any swelling that may have developed. I've learned that this really helps loosen up the tightness in muscles and is a great way to wind down from a out of the norm day. So, I've already enjoyed my bath, and now it is time for bed. Kudos to you Dads again, and to everyone....nighty night!!

A Day To Celebrate: Persevere Through the Pain!

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there!! This is a special day to celebrate fathers who have given us life, love, structure, instruction, wisdom, time, and so much more. Even if your father is absent, I'm certain that you have other fathers, whom you can celebrate for.
I've had a busy couple of days, and it may be later tonight when I can really sit down and add some information. I am making Chicken and Dumplings for my Dad today, and whenever I attempt to cook it can get lengthy and troublesome. As many of you know, having Chronic Pain, no matter what the reason, can make every day simple tasks quite difficult. But, sometimes we must try and persevere through the pain to gain some victory and sense of normalcy. That is exactly what I am doing today.
I hope everyone enjoys this glorious and beautiful day, I know I will!!

Limited income, unlimited savings.

Throughout my blog, I will be posting ways in which I've learned to save and sometimes earn money. I know that being financially stable is very important for those whose income has changed because of a disibility. Debt can often increase Chronic Pain, or other conditions, and it can also cause other unwelcomed health issues.

I want to share that I have been on long-term disability since June on 2008, through my former employer (as of yesterday, my job was expectedly terminated). I applied for SSDI in January of this year and have yet to receive an answer. Since then, my oldest son has lost his job and is unable to help much financially. He is 21, and "rents" the basement in our home. My youngest son just turned 18 (another decrease in my finances due to the loss of child support), and is off to the Navy August 4Th. Given these circumstances, I have been in search of every way possible to save money. My income is now about 1/3 of what it was when I was working.
The first savings idea I had was to call my cellphone company and ask about a plan that would suit my family's needs while at the same time saving me as much money as possible. Surprisingly, I was able to save nearly $40 per month with just that one phone call. So, I urge anyone seeking to save money on their overall monthly bills to start with a simple call to their cell and home phone service providers. And, by the way, I did not sign a new contract to get a better rate, and would advise against renewing or getting into any contract when your income is uncertain.
Looking at a big picture you can get overwhelmed and stressed unnecessarily. So, just look at one thing at a time, and have faith that things will fall into place, because they always do--they fall into one place or another!!
Always try to stay positive, because at any time, someone else's battery may be low, and they may need you give them a charge.

Askapatient.com

Had a bit of a rough day yesterday, two doctor appointments. One with an ENT and the other with a pulmonologist, neither certain on what my plan of treatment should be. As of now my, asthma problem is so bad that my oxygen level is at about 92-93 at most times. So, the pulmonologist suggested that I see a pulmonologist at Emory, here in Atlanta. He seems to think that "we are missing something", and my thoughts were "yes, the proper treatment of my CSS". I cannot tolerate the prednisone, and he is reluctant to try a different immuno-suppressant. My ENT believes that doing sinus surgery will lessen the amount of infections I get and also help with my asthma. But, he makes no promises. So, I am a bit frustrated, and physically feeling quite weak....I thought I must have had an infection and one of them would give me round of antibiotics, but, nope....they said they didn't feel that there is an infection.

Anyways, I wanted to give a small recap of the doctors I've seen, and please if you have any questions about a particular visit or what was done....ask!!
The first doctor I went to, as I mentioned earlier was a foot doctor, who put me through the ringer with some physical therapy...he also thought it may be tendonitis that had my feet in such pain. Needless to say, it wasn't but I followed the instructions of exercise and the excruciating experience of soaking. Just to let you know, if you have neuropathy (which at the time I didn't know that was my problem) that having one bucket with ice water and another with hot water to soak each foot separately, but at the same time, switching off at 5 minute intervals for 20 minutes, IS NOT something to try!! It will send your nerves to a place they don't need to be going!! He ended up telling me (after that fact) that I did not have tendonitis, and referred me to see a neurologist.
Over the months, well actually year following the I did see not one, but three different Neurologists, a Rheumetologist, two Pain Specialists, a Dermatologist, and of course my regular Internal Medicine Doctor. I have had several MRI's-head, neck, spine, a gamut of blood work and exrays, CT scans, EMG's and nerve and skin biopsies. All to find that I have CSS and many of it's features!!
I have also tried many different treatments for the different symptoms, as they call them. Those I will try to go into a little at a time as I remember, but if you have a question about a particular treatment or medication, please comment or email, as I have tried and studied many different ones. I always check the web for reviews from those who have tried a medication that a doctors wants me to try. Askapatient.com is one of my favorite sites as everything is posted by people who have tried a particular medicine and will tell it like it is. Sometimes, no, make that at all times we have to be active in our treatments---if not you may find all kinds of bumps and potholes in the road!!
OK, it is, what some here, call supper time.....so I'm going to go eat and maybe I will be able to come back with more later tonight. Take care!!

In the beginning...

I guess I should give you a little history about myself in regards to how I developed Churg Strauss Syndrome. I will try to give a nutshell account of what started the "my body turning against me" season, as I like to refer to it.
Up until October of 2006, I had been fairly healthy, other than a little asthma and some pain in the bottom of my feet (which my Primary Care Dr. said was caused by tendonitis), and a few seasonal allergies. I had a Hysterectomy with no adverse effects in November of 2000. I worked six days a week as both a Stylist and Nail Technician, and in the Finance business. I loved my work and the people I served were like my family.
I will start in August of '06, when I developed a runny nose. Within 24 hours, I was flat on my back, well sort of, more so just sprawled on my bed, unable to breath without being heard in another room. I remember it being a Friday, and for the first time in I don't know how long, I called in sick from work. I could hardly make it to and from the bathroom, which is sad because my toilet is only about 10 steps from my bed. Self medicating myself with inhalers and cold medicines, somehow I was able to go back to work the following Tuesday. I think my boss thought I might have just had an long fun weekend.
Though, I got through that incident, I never quite got back to myself, and in late October I went to bed with that dreaded runny nose again. This time I was awakened by my own breathing!! BUT, I still went to work....until 12:30 when I felt I had better get to the doctor and get some real medicine. I did go to the doctor, he was very concerned about my Oxygen level and gave me a breathing treatment, and said he wanted to have me go to the hospital. Well, being that I absolutely hate hospitals, I begged to let me go home. He reluctantly agreed, giving me an antibiotic and prednisone pack, and having me promise that if I got any worse I would go straight to the hospital. That day proved to be terrifying, the night even more so. By seven or eight o'clock, I had asked my son to check on me every now and then, to make sure I was still breathing....not being funny.....I did. But, by around ten, my breathing was so little-yet so loud-that I gave in and had my 15 year old drive to the Emergency Room. He said it was the only time he actually enjoyed me riding shotgun.....seems I must complain about his driving.
Wow, I think my nutshell, is turning into the whole tree!! Anyway, a hint on how to get extremely fast service in the Emergency Room is to not be breathing much. It was like being on a TV medical show....I was rolled so fast into a trauma room that my head was literally spinning. At one count, I had Eight attendants working on me at one time. They tried shots, breathing treatments, 100% Oxygen, and still no change in my breathing, so was admitted. I had a very bad lung infection of an unknown origin. Over the next five days, I would have antibiotics, breathing treatments and mega steroidal treatments, but to no avail. Then came the anti-viral medications, and a different type of breathing treatment med, because of a spike in my blood pressure. Finally, after five days, I think I was just kicked out....and sent home with a home nebulizer, more antibiotics, and prednisone...which I consider to be a blessing and a curse.
After all the antibiotics and prednisone was gone, I thought, OK, I'm going to start feeling a lot better....I was wrong. It seemed almost immediately following my illness, I still felt like I had a clog between my nose and mouth...which would not dislodge!! I felt I would catch on fire from my chest up and turn really red...first thought was hot flashes....but they were more like a furnace that had no off switch. The pain in my feet became very severe, and they would swell up like marshmallows, and turn really red, almost purplish in color. (By the way, I just took a look down and realized that I must have gone to both of my doctor visits today with a .50 cent sticker on my shirt---how embarrassingly funny!!!) Back on track....OK, so I thought I could deal my very own personal infernos all the time, but my feet were killing me. I kept thinking, it's just tendonitis, but decided finally after seven months, to see a foot doctor. Tomorrow I hope to be able to tell you more about my experience there, but for now, I am going to take advantage of my bed!! Goodnight and God Bless!!
